*roller skates into the chat*
HI, EVERYONE!
I didn’t intend to take a summer hiatus from the newsletter, but I seem to have done just that. There were hijinks aplenty: sweltering hikes and sweaty dance parties, a garden that got more than a little shaggy but still has and is offering up beauty, books that went unread, a book that got drafted, and a book that is in the process of getting drafted. It feels like, at this moment, just past the unofficial end of summer, a sort of spontaneous equilibrium is settling in. Very grateful for all my friends and family, and all of y’all.
My ability to write consistently finally returned, and so I’ll be in a season of catching-up for the rest of the year, but a relieved one. I’m still not quite sure what my release calendar looks like as a result of that little, ahem, life hiccup that was 2023/early 2024; there might be one book next year, and two the following, or two the following, and then some more. I’ll let you know as soon as I do.
Mainly, right now I’m feeling full up with stories to put on the page and that is a very good feeling. I’m able to read again. I’m enjoying the sun while it lasts and anticipating cozy evenings ahead. I’m making space in my life for things both new and old and enjoying them.
Anyway, I’m alive, I’m thriving, honestly, and it’s always the hardest to write the newsletter after a looooong time away. So I’ll just get back to doing these at least every two weeks (biweekly? let’s not risk using the wrong word!).
I do have a few appearances left this year, including one next weekend*:
September 20 - 6 p.m. Bowling Green, Kentucky
(*I love being the blue-haired member of the band ;)
