Um, oopsie? I really don’t intend to fall into the pattern of long absences here, but I did somehow end up in one of my starting and not writing a newsletter. The high points:
Mom finally had her spine surgery at the end of March and it went really well (shout out to Dr. Cassidy, the best)! This is the primary reason I haven’t been around. I didn’t want to jinx it in advance, and then was busy helping out while she was still at the hospital and then at the rehab hospital in town. She’s actually heading home tomorrow: YAY. Still lots of recovery work ahead but such a good trajectory.
DEADLINES. I am writing TWO books that will be out next fall currently and both are due imminently. It’s such a relief to have my brain working again. But juggling caregiving and writing is still a feat (as many of you know). Still: YAY.
I did manage to sneak away to a certain friend’s church for an eclipse viewing party. It was the perfect event. Some photos I took. Totality is worth the schlep, if you ever get the chance!
In random order, obviously.
I’m at APOLLYCON! Last night, there was a reading at the Void Sake Company and I thought, Oh, I can go to that and be home early because my flight’s at 7:30. Except, thankfully, I checked my boarding pass right before bed and discovered OOPS it was at 6 a.m. But I am now ensconced at the hotel and even caught up on the four hours sleep I missed.
I won’t have things for sale at my table, but through the on-site bookseller, and I’ll be doing both signing sessions so come say hi. I’m at table 332 in the Ballroom, next to the fabulous Lauren Thoman and just around the aisle from the fabulous Lish McBride and Scarlett St. Clair, among many others. (I will be fangirling my head off for the next few days, period. !!!) Anyway, at my table, I will have the good chocolates from Old Kentucky Chocolates, including bourbon truffles, art stickers to choose from in honor of The Frame-Up, and a card game of Fuck/Marry/Kill for if you’re bored or brave.
A more substantial newsletter soon! I leave you with me experiencing post-eclipse joy bomb that is ringing a church bell you just discovered still works.
Have fun at the con! Please tell Lish that I love her books! (but don't do it in a weird way plz.)
