Who are you?

I’m Gwenda Bond, a New York Times bestselling writer of many things, most at least a little weird. I’ve worked in other people’s worlds — I wrote the first official Stranger Things novel, Suspicious Minds, and a trilogy of books about teen Lois Lane (and Clark Kent) — but also plenty of worlds of my own invention. My most recent books are Mr. & Mrs. Witch, a magical riff on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and the Match Made in Hell series, Not Your Average Hot Guy and The Date from Hell, apocalyptic romcoms that partially take place in Hell. Next up is The Youngbloods Audible Original series with Kami Garcia and Sam Humphries, coming in 2023. And in 2024, I’ll have The Frame-Up, a magical heist novel, and the first book in the Wayward Sisters, a series I’m calling Bridgerton but with magic. I also have several other things in the works. (*twirls fingers*). If there’s a commonality in my work, it’s that I like the mix and match genres, and will follow an idea wherever it takes me.

I was a regular Publishers Weekly contributor for years, and have written for the Los Angeles Times, Salon, Locus Magazine, and others. So I know way too much about the industry. Tell me what you want to know, and I’ll try to help explain it. Or explain why it’s inexplicable.

I also co-founded a nonprofit work, event, and community space for writers in Lexington, Kentucky, the Lexington Writer’s Room, and co-founded the Creators 4 Comics charity auction with Kami Garcia and Sam Humphries.
