But this time from the Atlanta airport. Traveling has not gotten better over the pandemic, and while it’s nice to be going places, it’s even more crowded and stressful and messy. Almost no one is masking, and the general air of the airport, as always, is like we’re all trapped in purgatory. The dead-eyed, desperate-for-a-nap of it all. We are here because we are trying to get somewhere else. Because we want to be somewhere else, without overpriced and lackluster food, tiny toiletries and U-shaped pillows that promise if you do sleep, it will not be a good experience. There’s not even an Xpress-Spa in my concourse where I can get one of my guilty pleasure airport chair massages (if I knew for sure it was open, I’d be hoofing it over to concourse C, where they used to know me by name I came through so often). My other complaint about the Atlanta airport? James Patterson has it on lock down. Good luck finding a book by someone else! *pats trusty kindle loaded with manuscripts* And…
I forgot my phone! I packed my yoga mat, my Alphasmart, the extra adapter that is needed to transfer words from Alphasmart to computer. I checked a bag and it was ONE POUND under the limit. I live on the very tame edge.
And I forgot my damn phone. Christopher is overnighting it. Meanwhile, I’m landing in Norfolk and kicking around there for a couple of hours checking out a museum, then heading down to the beach for a week-long writing retreat with friends. I will make many words. And I will be surrounded by very smart writers. So, open thread time! Feel free to drop by with a question or two anytime this week. I’ll ask The Friends for answers periodically too.
I will be working on this. *bounce* About which I am still EXTREMELY excited to be able to blab. I plan to do little else. Beach and write. I NEED THIS.
More soon. Unless I haven’t done enough good deeds to get out of here. Drop your questions!
GWENDA!! Your recommendations just solved a little plot hole for me.
Congrats! Regarding phone: sounds great to me cos you can't be got at! On another matter, you might enjoy a story that is kind of the inverse of the date from hell: https://terryfreedman.substack.com/p/the-girl-with-long-hair?sd=nfs
